Each funding opportunity includes basic information for that funding scheme/round, including but not limited to open and close dates, funding amounts, contributory funding requirements and provides a hyperlink to their website for further information.

Funding for short-term, industry-led research collaborations

Projects must:

  • develop a product, service or process that will solve problems for industry and deliver real outcomes
  • benefit small to medium enterprises (SMEs)
  • include education and training activities.

Matched funding of between $100,000 and $3 million. Grants are for up to 3 years

Up to 50% of eligible grant project costs for an industry-led research collaboration.

Eligible projects must have 2 Australian industry parties (at least one of which must be a SME) and 1 Australian research organisation

Targeted Translation Research Accelerator (TTRA) for Diabetes and Cardiovascular Disease : MTPConnect

The TTRA program will provide a new integrated research program to improve the prevention, management and treatment of diabetes and cardiovascular disease (D&CVD) in Australia. Research efforts will focus on the most pressing areas of unmet clinical and research needs in D&CVD, which are leading causes of death and disability in Australia. Round 3 of Research Projects funding opportunity will specifically focus on supporting D&CVD projects that address the unmet health and medical needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in rural, remote, regional, and urban centres.

The program helps eligible businesses to improve business practices, become more competitive, and take advantage of growth opportunities.

There are 3 streams, Accelerating Commercialisation, Growth and Innovation each has different financial eligibility requirements. Refer to each scheme for details.

Accelerating Commercialisation provides small and medium businesses, entrepreneurs and researchers with access to expert advice and funding to help get a novel product, process or service to market.

Assists businesses to understand their research needs, connect with the research sector and fund collaborative research project. There are 2 stages,  1) facilitation stage, which connects you with a facilitator and 2) grant stage, to fund your researcher placement.

Provides Australian businesses with quality advice and support to help them innovate and grow. Our expert advisers and facilitators are business people with a wealth of experience. They offer independent and objective advice tailored to the needs of your business.

Applicants who have received a Growth Roadmap, may be eligible for a Growth Grant. This grant can help fund the recommendations of a growth roadmap.

Delivered by Brandon BioCatalyst, CUREator is backed by the Australian Federal Government’s Medical Research Future Fund.

CUREator is a national biotechnology incubator run by Brandon BioCatalyst aimed at supporting the development of Australian biomedical innovations. CUREator is a nationwide incubator program that provides grant funding for successful preclinical medical research and medical innovation projects, and clinical-stage novel therapeutics. We like to think about the program as investors providing grant funding like an investor.

Through the Healthtech Accelerator, emerging digital health and medical device startups have access to the world’s largest medical city. The TMC Innovation team enables connectivity to mentors, service providers, clinical champions, and corporate partners who share the commitment of improving access, quality, and cost of healthcare.

In collaboration with Texas Medical Center, Austrade have co-designed the Healthcare Activator — a pathway for Australian Digital Health and Medical Device companies to engage with Texas Medical Center innovation programs and partners.

ENABLED FUTURE WORKFORCE ARC Industry Fellowships | Australian Research Council

There are three levels in the IFP: Early Career Industry Fellowships, Mid-Career Industry Fellowships, and Industry Laureate Fellowships. All levels seek to: 

develop a strong pipeline of researchers in Australia with capabilities in research collaboration, translation and commercialisation; 
open up and maintain a diversity of career pathways traversing university and industry settings; 
increase strategic engagement and alignment between universities and industry;  
contribute to the solving of industry-identified challenges and opportunities; and 
create commercial, economic and other benefits for Australia through enhanced translation and commercialisation, including the development of start-up companies.

Engaging with ANFF starts with a conversation to help us understand your project and how we can assist you.

Given the array of expertise available within ANFF, the first step is to work out where the network is most suited to assist you. Click here for more on our Nodes’ specialities.

Then, a specific consultation is held with the relevant expert to establish what the aims of the project are, to plot a course, and discuss feasibility testing if necessary.
